NOS Bio
It's difficult to write a biography about a person who wishes to remain anonymous. Without a birthday or childhood neighborhood to admire or condemn, there is little to expose as a basis for the lyrical genius that is No One Special (NOS). With absolutely no past to ponder we are relegated to speaking of NOS in the present only. Although the person, No One Special may not be special, the music certainly is! Driving, passionate songs and an entertaining live show are what you can expect from NOS. Being compared to artists like Bob Dylan, Ben Harper and Cat Stevens, NOS has delivered a vibrant debut CD entitled "I Don't Even Know". NOS's vocal eclecticism and lyrical complexity are punctuated by superb instrumental performances by musicians Abe Laboriel, Denny Fongheiser, Blues Saraceno, and Mike Miller. The NOS "I Don't Even Know" package artwork, created by Matt Smigiel, provides the desired anonymity for the person behind the NOS pseudonym. The NOS graphic character also provides a "skeletal framework" that can be morphed into any number of images that embody the NOS collective intellect. The shorthand of that is, not only is the artwork a bitchin' collection of colors and shapes but it also means something! The NOS catalog also includes internet-only releases like "Free Tommy Chong", a request to release this comedian from jail. There exist a number of politically based tunes, as well as, songs about marriage, grandparents, life, despair and joy. Simply stated, although we don't know the past of NOS, the future looks glorious. |
