A Brief History, A Short Biography, A Condensed Memoir of the Music Group "Incognito Sofa Love" Incognito Sofa Love, also known simply as ISL, hails from the New London, Connecticut area. ISL, laden with the sexual energies of four sprightly young gentlemen, stands tall and proud bringing fresh and original music to the masses. Six years of constant gigging have molded these strapping blokes into a tight outfit of musical power and dexterity. ISL is comprised of all local New London talent including Lead Guitarist / Singer Thor Jensen, Bassist / Singer Justin Grabel, Drummer Mike Winslow and Saxophonist Adam Demerest. The music that they play is an amalgam of post-punk, jazz-funk with a heavy rock influence. Defying standard industry categorization they just call their music, "SPUNK". Spunk is an exploration through and combination of improvisation, or Jam, and intricate, painstaking songwriting. The result is an artistic blend of fun, danceable and yet complex songs that must be experienced to be fully appreciated. So, whatever it's called is really unimportant, what is important is how great this music actually is, how it feels and how it sounds. The debut CD entitled "Hot Pink" is produced by Marco Dydo and ISL. Marco also handled the mixing duties as well -- very well indeed. This disc is delving into something that's fresh and new. It captures the raw energy of this quartet and presents it in a complete and powerfully concise package. When ISL takes the stage they get down to business and they get down fast. Their quest is to spread their funky love over New England and beyond. The ISL motto is, "Play First, Talk Later!" Simply stated, ISL is kicked up a notch, hard funk-rock that's glistening with sweat. I Have No Friends Thor Jensen and Justin Credabel are the driving force behind the latest release from Incognito Sofa Love. The boys have left their small town origin in Connecticut and headed for the bright lights of Los Angeles. It was this relocation that spawned the songs and performances captured on the tracks of "I Have No Friends". Once again they have penned an avant-garde sonic amalgam of rock-blues-funk-groove music that is easiest described as SPUNK. "I Have No Friends" was recorded and mixed at One recording studio in California under the guidance of Marco Dydo. Marco pulled triple duty on this project as tracking engineer, mixing engineer and Producer. This disc exhibits a mature, focused refinement of their earlier releases and while Jensen's vocal possesses a melodic honey-toned grit that casts a spell over every note and word, Credabels' title track highlights the true versatility of this group. If you are taking one CD to a desert island, take this one! You'll be SPUNK-A-DELIC! |
