Throughout time the most notable and memorable prophets, leaders, thinkers and artists have been men. Since the beginning of time gender has biased the thoughts, ideas and beliefs. Now, even as we evolve as human beings, we still live in a society where gender dominates. Sad, but true, the women’s liberation movement has brought about consequences where women assume the worst traits in men to compete in business while men struggle to relate with women in this contemporary world. Gender and sexuality have also dominated the world of music, classifying the artist’s message by their gender. Making a critical distinction between sexes as we try to change our world is detrimental to our evolution. Words, thoughts and ideas must stand on their own without judging or relying on a preconceived notion about the messenger: Enter Jessica Christ. Jessica Christ rejects the society imposed silence and banishes the notion of a gender-based bureaucracy. Neither emasculating men, nor de-feminizing women, thoughts and ideas become the central universal message. Jessica Christ combines it’s rich, passionate and powerful songwriting into a CD that is just about that: the words. Jessica Christ is challenging traditional boundaries, visually, conceptually and musically, presenting a powerful, surrealistic visual message. Jessica Christ has unleashed this message in their debut CD entitled "Perfect Wordz". In this release, words are the essence of human interaction: A single word can be perfect, evoking a very powerful emotion that is universally felt and understood. These Perfect Wordz give life to the quelled voices of the past and present. Voices that now have a platform from which to speak and a forum in which to be heard. Jessica Christ, simply stated, is today’s icon of every prophet, shaman, philosopher, warrior or artist who has been forgotten, was never heard or who never had a voice. Silence speaks. |
